There is a large range of items you can use in your MMA workouts at home, and they don’t have to be expensive. Here are some of the most useful MMA workout equipment that will make a difference to your training.
Medicine balls
Available in leather, rubber and vinyl, medicine balls come in a variety of weights with 10lb to 15lb being the most popular. You will find them in virtually all MMA gyms and with the price of them decreasing considerably over the last few years, there is no reason not to use them in your home workouts too. A very good aid for developing explosive strength.
Ab wheels
Ab wheels are a simple piece of equipment that has been used in workouts almost forever and can be bought for very little money indeed. They don’t just work your abs, arms and shoulders but your whole major upper body muscle group. If you are a fan of body-weight exercises, you will want one of these.
Jump ropes
Jump ropes – known as skipping ropes in some regions – are another simple, inexpensive piece of equipment that should definitely be on your shortlist. Great for warming up and will help improve your timing, co-ordination and footwork. They have been used by boxers for years for good reason, and you can find them from around $10 or so.
Weight benches
These days you can pick up a decent weight bench without having to lay out a lot of money, and it will be an investment that will continue to pay back with the results you are looking for. Stay away from the cheapest end of the market though, this is something that will last you for a long time so it’s worth getting the best you can afford.
Exercise balls
Also known as a “Swiss Ball”, the exercise ball is a lightweight inflatable ball that was originally designed for physio-therapy, but has become a popular part of many fighter’s workouts. Not only does it help strengthen your back, abs and mid-section, it will also work wonders for your balance & stability and considering the low price it really is worth incorporating into your training.
You don’t need to break the bank to get some MMA workout equipment that really does improve your workouts.
